Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

Those are rather grim numbers.  At the same time, I'm thinking that they would have to pick and choose what regiments are equipped with what.  I was trying to create a system where top-tier equipment was not always the best choice and that the banking of gear is somewhat... less of an attractive investment.

Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

Yeah. The banking thing I was trying to address by having it stored as a function of warehouse size. On beta I usded to craft in batches of 30k or more just for fun.

However I am not exactly sure how items are going to work. If there is no upper limit to what level there is, the cost alone will start to limit people. The way I see items is that of a force multiplier, large investment in items would require a smaller investment in troops.

There are 10 types of people in the world.  Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
Pestilence (55 Gu'al Cavalry) kill 86 units from The Royal Swords (100 Longswordsmen) in a melee.

Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

the only people who can bank, are those who play peacefully.
i for one, and i can speak for most of my clan, we simply cant bank. the amounts of troops we lose in attacks and defences are way more too much to consider equipping. some equip certain types of troops, the ones with highest HP (to maximize armour effects) or highest attack (to maximize weapon advantage), and others, like me, simply are not interested in this waste of  resources.
the runes i need to spend on smithies, iron mines, and market places can produce enough troops with stats way more than the additional stats given by equipment.

Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

Trading equipment: yes, absolutely. This has been something I should have written ages ago. This is still on the to-do list, but due to bugfixing I never got to it.

As for upgrading items: yes, this is, in fact ,already in place. You might have noticed the "1" after each item name, this is the level of the item. The idea is that you can upgrade equipment in your workshop.

The upgrades are village wide. For example: if you upgrade your "swords" to level 2, all swords you make in all workshops will be level 2. You cannot downgrade equipment. You can choose one item to upgrade for every level of workshops you have.

An upgraded item will be a little more expensive to make and a little stronger in effect.

About the warehouse idea: I'm pro. We just have to determine how much items can be stored in one warehouse level smile

I meant more lets say I have 37 battle axes, I can run a command in my weapon smith to turn them into 37 steel swords, for a cost.

Other than that, great news big_smile

Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

If you have an upper limit, then we need to be able to destroy obsolete gear to get it out of our inventory.  I would be irritated to have to send a regiment of 3 spearmen on a suicide mission to get rid of those last three daggers.  So we need to be able to add equipment, and tear it down too (ideally with some reclamation of resources - perhaps half)

I would rather see an up-convert process.  But it is sad seeing all those items that will never be used.

Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

how about permanent upgrades? some very expensive upgrade, but which after, all troops have states similar to these of equipped troops.
a "broad sword" *upgrade*, and all troops have broad swords. spear upgrade, and they have spears. these upgrades are very expensive. 50K and upwards for example. at lvl 1 blacksmith we get 1 or 2 options for example, and we can choose 1. if we later on, decided to choose second, we lose the advantages of the first upgrade. at lvl 2, we get other better options, and so on, after each level of upgrading, we get better options, we can choose to upgrade to these, or stay at the lower upgrade for now. a player can choose an upgrade from each level, or if not in any constant battling, upgrade it 5~6 levels, and choose the one on 6th level right away, and save lots of resources. the point is, only 1 upgrade can be active at any given point.
some players might be annoyed by the fact they like different weapons, we can have different weapons/armours for the different types of troops. upgrades for cavalry, upgrades for infantry, etc...
i know this is totally different from the current system, but just an idea.

Re: Warehouse, Trading & Upgrading equipment

I'd say that it's the start of a good idea.  I outfit my soldier differently depending on a variety of factors.  I would do it the same way that spells work, such that for each level, you have whatever has been unlocked, plus you have the ability to improve 1 item class per level built up.

Beast is gone now on all servers but stable, will stable last?
