Topic: An ideea for stable and troops traveling speed

I was thinking a bit lately how to compensate the traveling of troops. Villages that are very close is a bit of a problem cause people do sleep and 40 min. traveling time  is a bit too short, in an 8 hour sleeping time a village can be totaly destroyed but then again villages that are far away can almost never be attacked, i for one am never gonna send attacks on a 40-60 hour trip. This is why i would like to suggest something a bit diferent. To have minimums and maximums on traveling times and also equalising a bit traveling speeds. I was thinking a bit on something like this:
-travel between 2 villages not more far then 50L from eachother takes about 3 hours
-100L distant villages takes 6 hours
-150L 9 hours
-200L 12 hours and so on till a maximum of 24 hours trip. No attack should take more then 24 hours. I think its reasonable. The traveling times its for foot soldiers, horses travel faster ofcourse, but maybe not half the time, but only like 30% faster.
I know it dosent make much sense if you think about it logicly, but 2 villages that are very close can not sleep or go to work without fearing the complete cleanup of theyr villages and distant villages can never have some fun with eachother.
I know that we'll have portals, but a portal is opened randomly to a same sized village as yours, what hapends if you really dislike someone. Its a game but lets face it not everybody likes everybody around here, sometimes you just want to attack someone cause he said something on chat or whatever the reason but if he is 300L+++ away that means you will NEVER attack him. I think every player on the map should be a reasonably reachable target. If a smaller village that is 500L away from me casts Dry Lands on me, i want to be able to attack him.

Hmm, not even one reply? I was hoping to have a discussion about this. Do people really dont like this? I really think each and every one of the players on the map should be reachable in reasonable traveling times.

I may be slow but that didnt make any sense to me. If you mean attack with horses, answer me this: have you ever sent your horses to attack somebody at 600L away??? I havent and i know i will NEVER do that. But that village who is at 600L away from me can freely cast spells on me and i cant do damn thing about it. Does anyone really think this is acceptable? Yeah i know i could ask someone else to attack who is closer but that leaves me out of the pleasure of revenge.

Honestly, I agree with Lakers... I don't think that anyone should be immune to an attack just because of distance. At the same time, most of us would like to avoid waking up to a column of red text on the left of the screen...   So there has got to be something somewhere in between.

I posted this Click me on the old forums quite some time ago.  Now, I don't think that it is the way to go... but... it may give us a new direction in which to be thinking.

Part of the problem is that so much related to travel is constant.  With that no longer certain, each subsequent attack following a fast travel time, means that it becomes more unlikely that the player will again have a good fast travel time.  If we use Lakers's suggestion as the mean for a random number generation, then travel becomes... well... exciting.

Well, I think they are designing portals to combat this issue.  However, if portals remain a random target spell... other things will be needed to truly fix it.

There are 10 types of people in the world.  Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
